Before heading to Nanortalik, the ship took a short detour into Prince Christian Sound which was named after Prince Christian of Denmark. Luckily, the weather has been clear. The sound is narrow enough to require a pilot to assist the ship's crew.

Scenes from Nanortalik

Populated by 1185 citizens, Nanortalik is the most southern town in Greenland. In the Inuit language, Nanortalik means 'place of the polar bears'. During a ride around the area, our guide mentioned that this past July, 3 polar bears were seen in the area when the pack ice clogged the region.
